Healing Properties

Yesterday on my way to the studio I ended up buying seven extremely large Aloe Vera leaves. Later that day I strapped them to the arms of several eager young artists on the rooftop of my Bushwick studio.

A few months back the video artist Kate Gilmore asked if she could bring her MFA class to my studio. I quickly replied yes! The thought of sharing my workspace with the wide-open buzzing minds of young artists always excites me. In general I love having people in the studio. I even like working with people around often inviting them to help out.  My neighbors must think I’m strange since I can’t even bring myself to shut the double doors to my studio when I’m in there.  I just like to feel connected and not confined for me there can be a fine line between solitude and isolation. Maybe I just can’t play behind closed doors?
